Remembering Mick Morgan: Founder of Mican Plastering

Mick was at the core of Mican Plastering, growing the business for over 50 years. Always driving and supporting his employees and creating strong connections with clients, partners and stakeholders across our projects, Mick became a great friend as well as a trusted contractor to many over the years.

It’s been a great comfort to the Morgan family over the last couple of months to hear from so many former colleagues and friends of Mick, who remember their chats with him, his one-of-a-kind character, and his traditional values that we still operate by today. Thank you to everyone who’s been in touch.

Mick’s Mican Plastering legacy

After moving to Manchester in 1972, Mick set up his own plastering business, working across Greater Manchester for commercial and domestic customers. In 1984, Mick took his son Ian, our current Managing Director, under his wing and into the world of plastering and business. 

Together, Ian and Mick founded Mican Plastering in 2003. Mick and Ian’s strong leadership and entrepreneurial spirit focused the business towards plastering for the commercial housebuilding sector early on, working with major developers across the region while always maintaining our values of quality, trusted and reliable tradesmanship. 

Under Mick and Ian's careful management and drive to succeed, Mican went from a local start-up to become the award-winning commercial plastering contractor we’re proud to be today.

Mican Plastering's Managing Director, and Mick's son, Ian says:

"My dad and I set up Mican together back in 2003 after running his own business when he moved to Manchester in 1972.

He has been, and always will be, the driving force behind my achievements.

He will be sadly missed by myself, my mum, sisters and all members of his family."
